Due improved air quality conditions, The current Burn Ban has been Lifted by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas effective Tuesday January 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. until further notice.

YRCAA would like to thank the public for their cooperation during this extended burn ban.

Due to slightly improved air quality conditions, The current Stage 2 Burn Ban has been Downgraded to Stage 1 by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas effective Tuesday January 19, 2016 at 3:20 p.m. until further notice. Yakima County is implementing a new emergency notification system, for all citizens of Yakima County. The new system will allow the 911 Dispatch centers in Yakima County to notify residents in case of emergencies, such as fires, floods and severe weather. The new system has the capability to notify citizens through many pathways, including voice messaging to land line and cell phones, text messages, emails, fax and pagers. A Stage 2 Burn Ban has been declared by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas effectiveTuesday December 22, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. until further notice.  This burn ban has been called due to inversion, very poor dispersion and ventilation.
