Volunteer Park Update

The City of Selah is pleased to announce an update on Volunteer Park. After testing soil in the Volunteer Park area, a certain amount of arsenic was discovered. Due to this, the City consulted with HLA Engineering and Land Surveying, Inc. to discuss mitigation and remediation.

The City of Selah, along with HLA Engineering and Land Surveying, Inc., has decided that the use stockpiled soil from previous City projects would be used to cover the contaminated soil. Test results on the stockpiled soil, received on June 23rd and July 6th, showed that the stockpiled material was not contaminated and could be used for the Volunteer Park project.

A project update will be provided to Selah City Council on August 23rd, 2016. Final plans and specifications will be completed by October 31st, 2016. Ground breaking and construction will begin in early April, 2017.
