Stage 1 Burn Ban Declared

A Stage 1 Burn Ban has been declared by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas effective Thursday January 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. until further notice. This burn ban has been called due to Air quality deterioration, area inversion, minimal dispersion and expected poor ventilation.

The Stage 2 Burn Ban in effect in the Yakima County, but has been downgraded to Stage 1 in the upper Yakima County area effective Tuesday December 27, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. until further notice. Lower Yakima County will remain in a Stage 1.

A Stage 2 Burn Ban has been declared by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas effective Monday December 19, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. until further notice.  This burn ban has been called due to Unhealthy air quality conditions combined with poor ventilation and dispersion.

Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, which is annually on December 7, commemorates the attack on Pearl Harbor, in Hawaii, during World War II. Many American service men and women lost their lives or were injured on December 7, 1941.The City of Selah joins its citizens in honoring those who lost their lives seventy-five years ago today.
