Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

The City of Selah is seeking to hire a Wastewater Treatment Plant Facility Operator the Public Works Department.

Summary
Repair, maintain and troubleshoot a variety of electrical motors, pumps and gas equipment, gasoline engines, electronic control systems, and hydraulic equipment. Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled maintenance and repair work, utilizing welding, fabricating, mechanical and electrical skills. Perform daily operations tasks as needed or directed.

Essential Job Functions:
Conduct all operations, maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures as required and directed by the Treatment Plant Supervisor. Operate and maintain all pumps, motors, lines, valves, hydraulic and pneumatic and electrical systems pertinent to the treatment system. Collect for and conduct laboratory tests and maintain records appurtenant to wastewater treatment and processing control in the absence of the laboratory personnel. Maintain active involvement with the operations of the plant including the maintenance, modification and changes in process control on a daily basis, providing input and recommendations for process control. Operate and maintain all equipment and machinery appurtenant to the operation, maintenance and preventive maintenance of the wastewater facilities and their grounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
Certification by Department of Ecology as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I or higher
