Recreation Coordinator — Programs

The City of Selah is seeking to hire a Recreation Coordinator over programs and facilities. When changes due to COVID-19 lessen, this position will focus primarily on programs. As is, this position will be responsible for some duties related to both positions. This is a full-time permanent, non-exempt, non-represented position.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, they will create, plan, promote, and direct multiple self-sustaining recreational programs and activities. They support the Recreation Department for City-wide special events and interact with the public by processing payments and completing participant registrations. They lead the interview, training, and evaluation process as well as immediate supervision for part-time employees and volunteers.

Minimum Requirements

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: A bachelor’s degree in Business or Public Administration, or a similarly related program along with six months of increasingly responsible experience working in sports or recreation programs. Demonstrable understanding of public agency operations and customer service is essential. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a First Aid/CPR/AED Certification is necessary. This job does require a valid Washington State Drivers License.

Salary

The compensation for this position is currently $3,153 — $3,503 a month.
