A message from the PW Director regarding the sewer rate increase

Good morning,

The City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant must be replaced due to capacity issues, loading levels being exceeding in the recent past, and components being more than 50 years old. The anticipated project cost is between forty-five ($45) million and fifty-five ($55) million dollars to complete all phases of the work.

In an effort to have enough money required by State and Federal lending agencies the City had to make the difficult decision to raise sewer rates. In addition to needing match money for the project, the increased rates will ensure that any loans incurred will have the funding needed to repay the loans.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you,
