NOTICE OF JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
PLANNING AND BUILDING PERMIT SPECIALIST

Under the direction of the Community Development and Planning Supervisor.   Assists contractors, builders, engineers, architects and the public by providing information about the permit application process, accepts permit applications, calculates fees and valuation; and issues all required permits for the City of Selah Public Works Department.  Answers customer inquiries over the phone and in person about the permit application process, construction and building code regulations, project zoning and utility locations.  Requires an ability to use office software, type, proofread, edits content of documents, schedules meetings, answers phones, and directs incoming calls to other divisions within the City and Public Works. Distributes mail and prepares mailings, organizes and maintains department’s filing system and records retention. Researches, gathers, and compiles data to assist in preparing reports and other routine clerical duties. Follows specific procedures or under close direction from a higher-level employee.  Education or experience with an emphasis on understanding municipal codes and building regulations and process is preferred.
