Hydrant Testing and Maintenance Program

Starting September 30, 2019, the City of Selah Fire Department will begin testing fire hydrants in the Selah area.

The City of Selah is asking for cooperation in cutting the vegetation 3’ away from the fire hydrants located on personal property within the city limits.  Primarily, this will aid the Fire Department in locating a fire hydrant quickly in an emergency.  Also, it will allow the testing process to be completed in a timely fashion.  If you have any questions or concerns about a hydrant on your property, please contact Gary Hanna at 698-7312.

During the testing process some customers may experience rust-colored water.  If this occurs, discontinue using your inside water.  Run water from an outside source. The discolored water should clear within a short period of time.  If you have any questions or concerns about water quality, please contact the City of Selah public works department at

698-7365.

The program is projected to be completed the week of October 7, 2019.  Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this time.
