Selah Base Race Announces Title Sponsor and Official Hospital
SELAH, WA – The City of Selah Parks and Recreation Department announced today that the Selah Base Race and the Washington National Guard have partnered in an advertising agreement with the Washington National Guard becoming presenting sponsor for the Selah Base Race.
The Washington National Guard will team up with the City of Selah Parks and Recreation Department to make the Selah Base Race one of the premier half-marathon/5Ks in the Pacific Northwest.
The City of Selah Parks and Recreation Department is also pleased to announce a partnership with Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital as the official hospital of the Selah Base Race. YVMH has served the Yakima Valley for over 60 years and their continued support in the City of Selah is integral to the success of the Selah Base Race.
The Selah Base Race Presented by The Washington National Guard will be held on September 17th, 2016 at 8:00 am with a 5K course and a half-marathon course. The half-marathon course, recently certified by USA Track and Field (certification code: WA16020RMB), extends onto the Yakima Training Center for approximately three miles. Proceeds from the Selah Base Race will be donated to The Soldiers Project which provides free mental health counseling to Post-9/11 veterans dealing with post traumatic brain order (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). On average, 22 veterans per day are committing suicide due to a myriad of reasons stemming from PTSD. Every $1,000 dollars donated to The Soldiers Project is equivalent to one free year of mental health counseling.
The Selah Base Race will include Selah’s first Fall Festival. The Fall Festival will have entertainment, food vendors from the valley, and a beer garden featuring the best wineries and craft breweries from the area. The festival and Selah Base Race also includes a silent auction with items such as two tickets to a University of Washington football game, two tickets to a Washington State University football game and Spokane Indians tickets for the 2017 season among many other items.
