The Selah Base Race Presented by The Washington National Guard will be held on September 17th, 2016 at 8:00am with a 5K course and a half-marathon course. The half-marathon course, recently certified by USA Track and Field (certification code: WA16020RMB), extends onto the Yakima Training Center for approximately three miles. Proceeds from the Selah Base Race will be donated to The Soldiers Project which provides free mental health counseling to Post-9/11 veterans dealing with post traumatic brain order (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). On average, 22 veterans per day are committing suicide due to a myriad of reasons stemming from PTSD. Every $1,000 dollars donated to The Soldiers Project is equivalent to one free year of mental health counseling.
The Selah Base Race will include Selah’s first Fall Festival. The Fall Festival will have entertainment, food vendors from the valley, and a beer garden featuring the best wineries and craft breweries from the area. The festival and Selah Base Race also includes a silent auction with items such as two tickets to a University of Washington football game, two tickets to a Washington State University football game and Spokane Indians tickets for the 2017 season among many other items.
