SUBJECT:   YAKIMA COUNTY – BURN BAN CALLED

A Stage 1 Burn Ban has been declared by the YRCAA Air Pollution Control Officer for both the Upper and Lower Yakima County areas until further notice. This burn ban has been called due to deteriorating air quality from wildfires.

PM2.5 levels are currently Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (Orange) in the Upper County area.

PM2.5 levels are currently Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (Orange) Lower County area.

Ventilation category is poor.

Dispersion category is poor.

Air quality can change rapidly; please keep watching and we will update the situation as necessary.

During a Stage 1 Burn Ban:

All Outdoor Burning, including Agricultural burning, is prohibited;

All violations of the burn ban are subject to civil penalty.
