Garbage
- Please ensure your garbage can(s) are placed at the curb no later than 5:00 am on your scheduled pick-up day. To avoid missing collection, especially during the summer months when crews may begin routes earlier due to heat, we recommend setting your garbage can(s) out on Tuesday night.
- Additional bags, boxes, or overfilled containers will incur an extra charge of $3.15 each.
- Please bag all garbage before placing it in the can — this helps keep things clean and makes pickup more efficient!
- For an additional fee, Basin Disposal can also pick up larger items, such as furniture and appliances, upon request.
- If your garbage was not collected by 3:00 pm on your scheduled pickup day, or if your garbage can needs to be replaced, contact Jasmine Arellano at 509-698-7326.
Holiday Garbage Collection Schedule
There will be no garbage collection on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If your regular collection day falls on one of these holidays, service will be provided on the following business day.
Recycling
The City of Selah offers an optional recycling program through Basin Disposal. Recycling is picked up the first full week of the month on Thursday, as shown on the 2026 Recycling Collection Calendar. Recycling (PDF)is a free service to Selah City Residents.

Yard Waste
We offer a Yard Waste Program (PDF) from April through October for $2.92 per month. Yard waste is limited to three plastic bags of grass and leaves per pickup, not to exceed 40 pounds per bag. Yard waste is picked up the first and third full weeks of the month on your normal garbage pick-up day.
