Utility Services

The City of Selah will no longer be conducting winter averages on utility billings. The City has moved to all electronic read meters. If you have any questions, please contact Jasmine Arellano.

If your phone number has changed, please be sure to update it with the Utilities Department. Having your current contact information on file helps us reach you quickly with important account updates, service notifications, and emergency information.

Current Monthly Charges

  • Water - metered ($25.91 minimum). 
  • Sewer - $102.63 for a single-family home.
  • Garbage - $21.18/month for one 64-gallon tote, or $25.79/month for one 96-gallon tote, weekly pick-up. Any additional totes are full price.

Payment Options

You can pay your City of Selah utility bill the following ways:

  • Pay online - Xpress Bill Pay
  • Pay automatically - City of Selah AutoPay or Xpress Bill Pay. To enroll in City of Selah AutoPay complete and submit:
  • Pay by mail - Send a check or money order to City of Selah, 115 West Naches Avenue, Selah, WA 98942.
  • In person - Cash, check, money order and debit/credit card payments (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) are accepted at City Hall during business hours. Checks or money orders (no cash) can be placed in the drop box outside the City Hall front entrance.
  • Over the phone - Debit/credit cards are accepted over the phone. 
    • All debit/credit card transactions will be charged a $4.50 fee.

Low Income Senior and Low Income Disabled Person's Utility Rate Discount

  • Annual submission of this form is required no later than March 31.
  • Submit low-income application and proof of income to City Hall or email Jasmine Arellano.

Start Service & Set Up New Utility Account

  • Federal Regulations require government identification when opening a new utility account. Please have your Driver’s License or State ID information available when you come in to start service. 
  • If you are renting a property, we must verify tenancy with the property owner before proceeding.
  • For newly purchased properties, please note that we cannot update our records until the purchase is officially recorded with the Yakima County Assessor’s Office.

Did You Forget to Pay Your Bill?

Your utility bill is due upon billing, but no later than the 20 days after billing.  If any portion has not been paid 40 days after the billing date, a thirty dollar ($30.00) late fee will be assessed to your account and shutoff of services will begin 47 days after the original billing date.  Once services are shutoff, they will not be restored until the account including any late fees has been paid in full.

Should the payment due date fall on a weekend, payment will be accepted on the first business day following the payment due date.

Should you feel that we have made an error, please bring in your receipt or canceled check, and we will be happy to review your record.

Billing Responsibility

All unpaid balances charged against the property are payable by the current owner. The City of Selah is not responsible for the collection of balances from previous tenants.

Emergencies

Should you have any water leaks, sewer back-ups, or problems with your meter, please call Selah Public Works at 509-698-7365.
