The City of Selah is creating an applicant registry of Entry Level and Lateral Entry Police Officers for potential openings within the next year. NOTE: There is not currently an opening at the Selah Police Department. We are only compiling a registry of qualified candidates for future openings.

Entry Level Police Officer

This position will be full-time permanent, non-exempt, and represented. The minimum qualifications include:

Must be 21 years of age or older and a US Citizen; must have a High School Diploma or GED certificate and a valid Washington Driver’s License; must be in good health and able to meet LEOFF 2 standards. May not have any felony or domestic violence convictions. We reserve the right to consider this applicant pool insufficient if there are less than 8 qualified applicants.

The current salary is $4,081 a month for a probationary police officer.

Lateral Entry Police Officer

This position will be full-time permanent, non-exempt, and represented. The minimum qualifications include:

Must have worked a minimum of 18 months as a full-time police officer within the past 24 months in a City, County, or State police agency in Washington. Must possess current CJTC certification, WA Driver’s License & meet LEOFF 2 standards. We reserve the right to consider this applicant pool insufficient if there are less than 5 qualified applicants.

The current salary is $4,621 — $5,465 a month (Third Class – First Class) dependent on previous experience.
