Notice of Informational Public Meeting- Study Session Regarding Sanitary Sewer Connection Fees

CITY OF SELAH

NOTICE OF INORMATIONAL PUBLIC MEETING- STUDY SESSION REGARDING SANITARY SEWER CONNECTION FEES

In accordance with the Washington State Administrative Code (WAC) 173-240-050 the City of Selah is required to plan for the growth and maintenance needs of its municipal sewer system.  Furthermore, the City’s General Sewer Plan, which was adopted November 20, 2018, estimates that $32,983,000 in system upgrades are required to serve the present and future needs of the city.  In response to these capital costs, the 2018 General Sewer Capital Improvement Plan recommends a $6,183.00 per Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) (300 gallons per day) sewer connection fee be established.  As a result of further planning, the City of Selah has determined that the above sewer connection fee should be reduced to $2,500.00, with an initial sewer rate increase of 8% to cover the $32,983,000 dollars in system upgrades.

In anticipation of these needed sewer connection fee increases, the City of Selah Public Works Department would like to invite the public and development community to a public meeting-study session.  The topics covered include development of the proposed sewer connection fees, possible options for phased implementation, and audience questions and answer session following the presentation.

Open Public Informational Meeting: Notice is hereby given that on June 4, 2019, commencing at 5:30 P.M., or as soon thereafter as practical, the City of Selah will conduct an informational public meeting in the City of Selah Council Chambers at 115 Naches Ave. Selah, WA.

For copies of the draft ordinance and additional information about the City’s planned sewer connection fees please see the Public Works Sewer Plan.

Dated this 29th day of May 2019.
