Fireworks banned within City limits

As we celebrate our country’s independence, please be safe and aware of the restrictions concerning fireworks. Per Selah’s municipal code, the following applies within the city limits:

Effective May 25, 1996, it shall be unlawful for any person to store, offer for sale, expose for sale, use, possess or discharge any fireworks within the city of Selah, provided, however, this section shall not prohibit the lawful discharge of special fireworks at a properly permitted public display of fireworks; and provided, however, that toy pistols, toy canes, toy guns, or other similar devices, in which paper caps containing not more than twenty-five hundredths grain of explosive compound for each cap used, may be sold at all times.

(b)

Violations of this section shall constitute a civil infraction with a civil penalty of two hundred fifty dollars per occurrence. Infractions shall be initiated and may be appealed under the infraction rules for courts of limited jurisdiction before the Selah municipal court.
